Welcome!  

My name is Anastasia, and I am the freelance illustrator and designer behind Silver Steer Design. I have designed each piece with love from my small farm in rural Minnesota. I specialize in creating nuanced, fresh, and oftentimes whimsical surface pattern designs for a variety of applications including home décor, fabric, stationery, apparel, and more.

A bit about me;  I love kids, animals, and a good Chianti. I have far too many pets, my boots are usually muddy, and my passport is always at ready for the next adventure. I am passionate about the environment and equality, and believe that an act of kindness is never wasted. I studied illustration at RISD in Providence, RI, but was drawn back to the Midwest to start my business and to raise a family. Like many of us here, family outshone the frigid winters, and I have stayed. The winters are indeed brutal, but there is nothing more magical than MN in the spring and the fall. I have two absolutely fantastic kids, who keep me on my toes - and usually out of money and looking for my phone charger. They are, without doubt, my biggest fans and heros.

I draw inspiration and ideas from the crazy, brilliant, and beautiful  moments of my everyday life on the farm. The beauty found on a quiet walk, the brilliant blue flash of my old peacock, Raja, the warm browns of a horse’s coat, and the green dart of a dragonfly.  You’ll often find these themes and references in my work.

I feel incredibly fortunate to be able to share my art, and glimpses of my life, with you. I hope that you find as much joy in my work, as I do in bringing it to you. I encourage you to check out my online socials, as new work and announcements are most often posted there first.
